When I was in Holland I went to Leiden and really liked it. There were far fewer folks who spoke English (comparing to Amsterdam), but the buildings with the rivers running all around were quite picturesque. We didn't look up any touristy info about the city before we went. We just had fun exploring, though in our walking up and down all over the city, I'm sure we saw most of the supposed "sites of interest" and then some.

The World War One stuff (trenches, monument of the unknown soldier, etc. ) in France is wicked cool.
